Fr. Daniel Hamilton
He was born Jan.. 25, 1943, in Johnstown, PA.
His family came to Clovis when he was very young; he attended Sacred Heart School, served in the U.S. Army including Vietnam 1964-1966. Graduated from Eastern New Mexico University in 1966, and moved to the Washington D.C.to be near his parents and entered the seminary PA, and theology in MD. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Richmond on May 13, 1972, served in the Virginia area lastly pastor of St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton in Woodbridge 1987-2000, then St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Fredericksburg 2000-2002 when he retired from active priestly ministry in 2002 and died at age 75 on December 26, 2018 an active priest for 30 years.
Fr. Donald Richard Joseph Kapitz
He was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico on February 3, 1948.
Son of Richard and Lupe Rubio Kapitz and was raised in Clovis. He attended IMH Seminary in Santa Fe and Assumption Seminary in San Antonio, Texas. He received his Masters Degree in Social Work from
St. Mary University and was ordained a priest by Archbishop James P. Davis on October 4, 1973 at Sacred Heart Church in Clovis, followed by several assignments including: Vocation Director, IMH Seminary Spiritual Director. Earned his PhD in Moral Theology from the University of Notre Dame. He returned to New Mexico and became professor at the University of Albuquerque and pastor of Our Lady of Sorrows, La Joya, and then Our Lady of Fatima in Albuquerque until his early retirement due to health issues, and died on February 2, 2012 after a lengthy and courageous fight with Parkinson Disease at age 64.
Sister Jean Marie Hilvers, SFP
Rita Ann Hilvers was born on February 2, 1922 in Clovis, New Mexico to parents Joseph and Anna Venhaus Hilvers and younger siblings Frank J. and Eleanor K. Schreiber. She attended Sacred Heart School and in the 11th grade went to visit her cousin Sr. Hiltrudis Doll in Kansas City where she was introduced to the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor. She went to Cincinnati, Ohio in the fall, took first vows with the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor on September 8, 1941 taking the name of Sr. Jean Marie; completed her high school; final vows September 8, 1946, earned Bachelor of Arts in Social Work, then a Masters Degree in Social Work from Catholic University of America, then worked with the poor through Social Services Agencies in Ohio, our Diocese of Santa Fe, in Grants, Arizona and then to her last position living at a home of Sacred Heart while working at Plains Regional Center in Clovis, New Mexico for 13 years, 1981-1993; then retired in Ohio and died at Mercy Franciscan Terrace, Cincinnati, Ohio on June 13, 2008 at the age of 86 years. A Sister for 63 years.
Deacon Juan A. Rodriguez
He was born April 1, 1953 in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico to parents Juan Rodriguez Padro and Blanca Candelario Bonilla, one older sister Milagros Ruiz Candelario. He graduated from the University of P.R. in 1975, married Elaine Delano Alicea July, 24 1975, 3 children Emanuel, Francisco and Juan D., active duty USAF July 1980 thru May 1984, Department of Defense civil contractor from May 1984 thru December 2019, Moved to Clovis January 1992, ordained a permanent Deacon January 23, 1999. Elaine passed away on June 5, 2001, dispensation to lawfully enter a new marriage while remaining a permanent deacon was granted by Saint Pope John Paul II on June 2002, married Irene J. Urioste on February 12, 2006.
Deacon Michael A. Rowley, MD
He was born March 21,1946 in Clovis, New Mexico, to parents Richard “Dick” and Bertha Rowley, 3 older brothers, Richard, Milton “Mac”, and Nicholas Rowley, Sacred Heart grades 1-8, graduated CHS 1964, graduated Creightin University Medical School 1977 and married Deborah D. McCracken May 1977,two children Johanna D. and Zachary J. and has practiced radiology in Clovis since 1981, ordained a permanent Deacon January 23, 1999.
